【Study Session on "Traffic Rules and Fishing Rules" for Foreign Residents】2026.10.5

Yesterday, all of our foreign employees and their wives took part in a study session on "traffic rules and fishing rules" for foreign residents, held at the Shodoshima Police Station.

Together with foreign workers from other construction companies, we studied Japan's correct traffic rules.

We were also taught about fishing rules: that there are fish species and seasons in which catching is not allowed, and that some fishing gear is prohibited.

What surprised us was hearing that, depending on the offence, foreigners can face fines of up to 30 million yen.

For Japanese people it is said to be 300,000 yen, and the difference was a shock too.

It seems that behind this are cases that have become problems in the community, such as excessive fishing by foreigners and people fishing at night while shouting loudly.

Even without bad intentions, "I didn't know" is sometimes not an acceptable excuse.

To live in Japan with peace of mind, the first step is to know the correct rules.

It was a session that made us realise once again how important it is to know.
